YAWARA was not build in one day

A main character, Yawara Inokuma, is an ordinary girl, who is cute and just wants to be dressed up and have a good time with a nice boyfriend. But there was one thing that is not ordinary about her. She is a genius Judo player. The story begins where a newspaper reporter, Kosaku Matsuda, accidentally witnesses Yawara throw off the snatcher with Tomoenage.

Goro Inokuma, her grandfather and a retired Judo player, has trained Yawara since her childhood, but she shows no interest in Judo and desires to be an ordinary girl. Nevertheless, she ends up getting involved in Judo as she cannot say no when someone asks.

By associating and meeting with other unique characters, a playboy Shinosuke Kazamaturi, who is a Yawara’s dream boy, a proud preppy girl, Sayaka Honami who eyes Yawara as a rival, a good friend at college, Fujiko Ito, and best players in the world, Yawara’s life with judo becomes enriched.

Sena Kobayakawa, who has been shy and been treated as an errand boy all his life. He does not realize it, however, that the can run extraordinary fast by having done those errands. He has a friend from his childhood named Mamori Anezaki who keeps Sena from troubles. Sena gets accepted to Deimon High School where she goes, but a guy named Hiruma, who is like a demon, drags Sena into American Football team.

Sena was talked into it to join American Football team. But there were only two players; Hiruma, a quarterback and Ryokan Kurita, a lineman. Sena had no interest in playing in the game but he ends up playing as a running back under the name of “Eye Sealed” by hiding who he is.

The numbers of players are increased and started to become a team “Deimon Devil Bat”. Can they be a top of high school football teams by defeating enemies?

A red haired gang, Hanamichi Sakuragi, who was turned by 50 women during three years of junior high. When he enters Shohoku High School, he was asked to join the basketball team by Haruko Akagi, who he was in love with at the first sight, in which team there was his brother as a captain.

He started playing just to get her interested in him, but ends up getting involved deeply. While he gets jealous of an elite player, Kede Rukawa, who Haruko is in love with, Hanamichi continues his life with basketball.
